Honestly it will take a lot of money (or talent) to make a sidekick perform like a SxS in a go-fast environment, but that setup makes the ride super plush and works pretty good in the dunes and in general trail riding situations.**Subject to your credit approval. I have used this setup on 3 different rigs I built up for some of my friends I introduced into the sport. I used Monroe Monroe-matic shocks and struts to take advantage of the adaptive valving You might want/need to space out the bumpstops for tire clearance if you don't want to chop the body if you want to run larger tires. Thunderbird shocks are bolt on, nice and soft valving for the light trackers, and just long enough to gain travel but short enough to use stock length bumpstops. Get it aligned and weld the washers in place after alignment to make sure they don't move. You have to hog the holes out on the strut where it bolts to the knuckle with a carbide burr and elongate them to get proper camber adjustment, then use large washers on the strut bolts (I drill the knuckle out to 1/2 inch and use grade 8 bolts with nylock nuts) The grand prix struts will give you a few extra inches of travel, and are way beefier than any aftermarket tracker strut I have come across. Order a upper a-arm spacer for the rear (low range offroad) and get the 2 inch aluminum spring spacers (ebay) and don't use the spacer that comes with it to space out the strut. The best budget setup I have come up with that will give you the best ride and performance is:ĩ0s grand prix rear struts for the front and late 80s thunderbird rear shocks for the rear. (or having a local off-road fab shop build your rig) Your options for top performance are basically limited to building your own long arm rear and long travel setup for the front. You will ruin the kit with the quickness trying to go fast. Now that we got that out of the way, the alter ego kit isn't going to perform how you want. It's super unfortunate, as I would buy that kit myself if I would actually receive it. While they have an excellent kit for the sidekick, they literally don't deliver and refuse to refund.
